fastpull server is not fast in Spain

Hi!

I know that fastpull server idea is to guarantee distfile availablility, but it's incredibly slow for me (in Spain):

Still experiencing this issue from time to time. :(( Started:

emerge --ask --verbose --tree --update --newuse --deep --with-bdeps=y @world

Which causes upgrade of linux-firmware, which is around 140MB and according to emerge fetch log it will take me 1.5 hours:

Is there any way to disable usage of fastpull servers? It constantly super-slow for me upon @world update.

Oh. I figured that out, just need to remove fastpull from gentoo mirrors in make.conf:

GENTOO_MIRRORS=""

While setting an empty GENTOO_MIRRORS makes portage use gentoo's mirrors with way better network performance, you may now either miss some package or size/sum mismatch any other...

After some tests I've found out that:

1. sometimes the download speed is as slow as 56kbps
2. when this happens downloads from remote networks are still decently speedy (tried from data centers in the US and EU)
3. running local speedtest with other servers in Santa Fe (where the fastpull server is located) don't show the same slow down

I live in Granada and I think my ISP (Movistar/Telefonica) is to blame since I'm suffering also interruptions with Netflix...

OK, I'm testing out CDN77, a worldwide content delivery network which should massively improve download speeds in "slow" areas. Please, let me know if this makes a positive difference for you. It should.
