[Update: Please skip to my third entry. Two questions: (1) SYNC warning, and (2) python dependency on eselect-python. No, no. That can wait. Please go to the last entry that's mine. Currently stumped with python path config issue with app-pda/libplist. Does someone smart about these things think a reinstall is best idea? Urrrghhhh! Eeekk! Yikes!]
My questionable admin diagnosis: I think what I want to do is unistall dev-lang/python-2.7.10-r4:2.7 or mask app-eselect/eselect-python-20151117-r1. I can't do either.
Trying to do an update of @world. I did the usual delete of offending packages and masking in package.mask. I am unable to remove (emerge -C) python-2.7.10. I did remove eselect-python and now I can't install it even as a one shot (-1).
Seems to not do any masking, but the error message might be slightly different in my update (-u, wit varioius trimmings) error. Next is from 'emerge -uDN --with-bdeps=y --backtrack=30 --autounmask-write --ask @world'

For more information about Blocked Packages, please refer to the following
section of the Gentoo Linux x86 Handbook (architecture is irrelevant):
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:X86/Working/Portage#Blocked_packages
The following packages are causing rebuilds:
(dev-libs/gmp-6.1.0:0/10.4::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) causes rebuilds for:
(dev-scheme/guile-2.0.11-r1:0/2.0.11::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)
I found this issue (https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1035254.html), exact same issue with me before I added stuff to package.mask and package.use.force. The part that might be new in start of blocking error message is: "<app-admin/eselect-1.4.5 ("<app-admin/eselect-1.4.5" is blocking sys-devel/binutils-config-5-r1, sys-devel/binutils-config-5-r2)".
It may be because, besides adding lines to package.mask, I added to package.use.force hoping that would be the funtoo equivalent to the gentoo solution at the linked webpage.
The solution there without explanation as to why it worked is (not in my English): in your /etc/portage/package.accept_keywords/package.keywords wrote:
Added following to package.use.force without obvious effect on portage package selection or dependency resolution. Not sure it forces anything.
## Guess on temp issue.
app-lang/python-3.3.5-r2
app-eselect/eselect-python-20140125
I use ~amd64. Had to because I needed latest drivers when this laptop was new. I would go back to regular amd64 but that is not possible, I believe, from what I think I have read at the funtoo portal.
It seems to me per the gentoo forum solution that this is an architecture problem of the linue distribution inputs. Does waiting for portage tree updates seem a likely solution or am I uniquely screwed? I don't know what more relevant info I can provide. Scroll blindness is no solution for either of us.
At this point I wonder if I should just copy a whole new portage tree image per the install workaround (as it used to be as I recall) and build a new @world from that. If you have good advice on what to try or not try, I could use it.
Thanks for reading. Happy holidays. Get off the computer. ;)
