I'm pulling my hair out and I feel stupid ... especially since I'm all out of hair. *doh!* less is not interpretting the files I give it. For example, if I give it an HTML, it just shows me the raw HTML than formatting it. Its supposed to do this via the lesspipe program (installed) and the LESSOPEN environment variable, which is set and exported. lesspipe isn't getting run. Its in the PATH and I can run it manually.
