0 error
1 hour ago, jhan said: As far as I know, the fbcon error can be ignored. The above message is the problem. What graphics card do you have? What setup do you want to achieve? I get the same error when I run 'X -configure' (which I haven't in ages) on my computer with an intel/nvidia combo. And my guess would be that the command can't handle this, like it says in the man file: -configure When this option is specified, the Xorg server loads all video driver modules, probes for available hardware, and writes out an initial xorg.conf(5) file based on what was detected. This option currently has some problems on some platforms, but in most cases it is a good way to bootstrap the configuration process. This option is only available when the server is run as root (i.e, with real-uid 0). Does just using 'startx' give you a working server? You could probably also use an old xorg.conf if you want and modify it to your needs. It is always better to have at least a working configuration (automatically with startx or manually) to fall back on and work on from there. thanks for replie my laptop intel i5 3gen with nvidia 635M i use nvidia driver and create xorg.conf use nvidia-xconfig no error but cant startx Quote [ 23.685] X.Org X Server 1.20.5 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 [ 23.685] Build Operating System: Linux 4.19.67_p2-debian-sources-lts x86_64 Gentoo [ 23.685] Current Operating System: Linux error 4.19.67_p2-debian-sources-lts #1 SMP Tue Sep 17 19:34:51 WIB 2019 x86_64 [ 23.685] Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/kernel-genkernel-x86_64-4.19.67_p2-debian-sources-lts nomodeset real_root=/dev/sda2 rootfstype=ext4 rand_id=E8962LFY [ 23.686] Build Date: 15 September 2019 06:00:04PM [ 23.686] [ 23.686] Current version of pixman: 0.34.0 [ 23.686] Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org to make sure that you have the latest version. I see that you have nomodeset in your kernel command line. Can you remove that from /etc/boot.conf and re-run ego boot update, then reboot. Maybe that will help. You also might need to give the desired screen size if the system can't detect the right one. wow great remove nomodeset working, i success to generate xorg.conf, but startx still failed, i trying to disable nvidia but still failed to startx my xorg.conf Quote Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "X.org Configured" Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0 Screen 1 "Screen1" RightOf "Screen0" InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer" InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard" EndSection Section "Files" ModulePath "/usr/lib64/xorg/modules" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/misc/" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/TTF/" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/OTF/" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/Type1/" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/100dpi/" FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/75dpi/" EndSection Section "Module" Load "glx" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Keyboard0" Driver "kbd" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Mouse0" Driver "mouse" Option "Protocol" "auto" Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5 6 7" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "Monitor0" VendorName "Monitor Vendor" ModelName "Monitor Model" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "Monitor1" VendorName "Monitor Vendor" ModelName "Monitor Model" EndSection Section "Device" ### Available Driver options are:- ### Values: <i>: integer, <f>: float, <bool>: "True"/"False", ### <string>: "String", <freq>: "<f> Hz/kHz/MHz", ### <percent>: "<f>%" ### [arg]: arg optional #Option "Accel" # [<bool>] #Option "AccelMethod" # <str> #Option "Backlight" # <str> #Option "CustomEDID" # <str> #Option "DRI" # <str> #Option "Present" # [<bool>] #Option "ColorKey" # <i> #Option "VideoKey" # <i> #Option "Tiling" # [<bool>] #Option "LinearFramebuffer" # [<bool>] #Option "HWRotation" # [<bool>] #Option "VSync" # [<bool>] #Option "PageFlip" # [<bool>] #Option "SwapbuffersWait" # [<bool>] #Option "TripleBuffer" # [<bool>] #Option "XvPreferOverlay" # [<bool>] #Option "HotPlug" # [<bool>] #Option "ReprobeOutputs" # [<bool>] #Option "XvMC" # [<bool>] #Option "ZaphodHeads" # <str> #Option "VirtualHeads" # <i> #Option "TearFree" # [<bool>] #Option "PerCrtcPixmaps" # [<bool>] Identifier "Card0" Driver "intel" BusID "PCI:0:2:0" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "Card1" Driver "nvidia" BusID "PCI:1:0:0" EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Screen0" Device "Card0" Monitor "Monitor0" SubSection "Display" Viewport 0 0 Depth 1 EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Viewport 0 0 Depth 4 EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Viewport 0 0 Depth 8 EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Viewport 0 0 Depth 15 EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Viewport 0 0 Depth 16 EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Viewport 0 0 Depth 24 EndSubSection EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Screen1" Device "Card1" Monitor "Monitor1" SubSection "Display" Viewport 0 0 Depth 1 EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Viewport 0 0 Depth 4 EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Viewport 0 0 Depth 8 EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Viewport 0 0 Depth 15 EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Viewport 0 0 Depth 16 EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Viewport 0 0 Depth 24 EndSubSection EndSection my xorg.0.log Quote [ 191.191] X.Org X Server 1.20.5 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 [ 191.191] Build Operating System: Linux 4.19.67_p2-debian-sources-lts x86_64 Gentoo [ 191.191] Current Operating System: Linux error 5.2.15 #1 SMP Thu Sep 19 20:31:56 WIB 2019 x86_64 [ 191.191] Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/kernel-genkernel-x86_64-5.2.15 real_root=/dev/sda2 rootfstype=ext4 rand_id=PD3AOVTH [ 191.191] Build Date: 15 September 2019 06:00:04PM [ 191.192] [ 191.192] Current version of pixman: 0.34.0 [ 191.192] Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org to make sure that you have the latest version.
