  1. Greetings, I'm having an issue when i sync and then try to update my system using the @world command I get the following error, I'm not sure what to do, here is the output: sudo emerge --sync >>> Starting git pull... remote: Counting objects: 40399, done. remote: Compressing objects: 100% (25880/25880), done. remote: Total 40399 (delta 37902), reused 16731 (delta 14499), pack-reused 0 Receiving objects: 100% (40399/40399), 7.09 MiB | 308.00 KiB/s, done. Resolving deltas: 100% (37902/37902), completed with 24191 local objects. From git://github.com/funtoo/ports-2012 d6cd802.
  2. Is there a way to pull dead ebuilds (no longer in Funtoo tree) from funtoo git? I can access dead gentoo ebuilds and files from sources.gentoo.org. Is there any way to access and download dead funtoo-ported ebuilds from funtoo's git tree?
  3. So does the github repository have to be sub-divided? Went to look at something in the dev-perl but ran into this issue.

    Multilib Issue

Hello, my doubt is for enable a multilib system (able to run wine, skype, ...) I just have install "emul-linux" packages?
  5. Hello everybody! after six years using Linux distributions like fedora and sabayon , finally i decided to move to a really serious distro. I was researching on what kind of meta-distro must be installed on my computer and i really really liked the funtoo way for linux since the first time i meet the welcome page in funtoo.org, ,,, anyway, i was wondering on how to install the Mate environment over my new stage 3 tarball and brand new compiled kernel already installed on my hard drive. First i take a look to http://www.funtoo.org/MATE_Desktop, but when i needed to do the following step: cp /u
  6. OK, I have my kernel in @system, not in @world, and my kernel sources don't support 3.17 yet because its ck-sources, nor do I want to upgrade my kernel. I'm tired of compiling and tired of stuff being broken. WHY is it trying to install kernel-headers 3.17-r1? My kernel is 3.13, so this sounds like a really BAD idea. Shouldn't portage be smart enough not to do this? Maybe funtoo was a bad idea. Weeks now and still not finished installing! This shouldn't be this difficult. I only did a sync because it was supposed to fix gedit's vapigen thing, and its still broken just giving m

Just wondering if anyone has tried Paludis and/or Exherbo and what they thought of it. I'd rather have the opinions of the guys here rather than ask over there as I'm pretty sure they'll just tell me why they are so great. I wanna hear it all. http://paludis.exherbo.org
  8. Am I imagining things, or was there a flag to pass to emerge that makes it set your window title to the currently building package along with the [x of y] style designation? Like changing the window title to "[3/5] apache" If it doesn't exist, would anyone but me find it useful?
  9. I'm finding a few packages that don't build and I keep trying to find work-arounds, change USE flags, or whatever, and now I'm seeing some that look like the ebuild is passing information to libtool incorrectly. Something is really broken, and this is still a fresh install (more or less - not booted it yet, just installing). layman wants to pull in svn (tired or arguing and accepting defaults). The result: checking for C compiler default output file name... a.out 000/image//usr/lib64/apache2/modules /usr/share/build-1/libtool --mode=install install mod_dav_svn.la /var/tmp/portage/dev-
  10. I investigated as to why my grub wouldn't install when it looked like the compile was OK. Now emerging GDB and also attempting to re-emerge with different CFLAGS (just -O2, removing -march=native). Taro build-pc # ./grub-mkimage --help Usage: grub-mkimage [OPTION...] [OPTION]... [MODULES] Make a bootable image of GRUB. -c, --config=FILE embed FILE as an early config Segmentation fault (core dumped) What's weird is it should just be printing some output. That shouldn't crash it unless there is a major bug. Well ... it installed. Is there some way to tell portage to change C
  11. Portage displays an error when trying to install ati-drivers, but I am a newbie to *too Linux and my English is not well and I do not understand what is going on :( Output of emerge ati-drivers is: Calculating dependencies... done! 12. Does anyone have a shell command or script that will delete *.tar.foo files out of /usr/portage/distfiles with the exception of those that relate to currently merged packages? Such a command would be fantastic for recovering storage space while at the same time avoiding the repeated downloading of existing packages (for example, when a USE flag is changed).
  13. Hi, I just installed Funtoo (yesterday), but right now I am having trouble to emerge a couple of packages. Examples include xfce4-meta, nemo, thunar, pcmanfm, cinnamon, and others. However, the trouble is the same for all of them: it is something related to a conflict between dbus and systemd. Just to be clear, I don't really want systemd, OpenRC is really fine, but it seems that the packages I cited before depend on systemd (at least indirectly). As I'm not completely sure on how to describe the problem, I'll just output a couple of outputs. What should I do to install those p
  14. Hi, When I run on my Funtoo system: emerge icedtea-bin I get the following error, which indicats that this icedtea-bin-core- does not exist on the server. How to solve this? If I force to install icedtea-bin version 6, I get a similar error. I do not use any overlay. >>> Emerging (1 of 2) dev-java/icedtea-bin- * Fetching files in the background.
