  1.  installed Funtoo again two months ago. Since that I learned a lot more and I'm thinking about reinstalling

    nonsense!!!

    I don't have swap

Me neither, and only 2gb, this lappy is as quick as lightning, and I can hibernate and suspend...

  2. first mistake:

In order to install Funtoo Linux, you will first need to boot your computer using a Linux-based Live CD or USB stick

I tried to install from my working OS !!!

    second :

    Note

Currently, our default /etc/fstab has the root filesystem as /dev/sda4 and the swap partition as /dev/sda3. These will need to be changed to /dev/sda3 and /dev/sda2, respectively.

little confusin at least to ME !

Do I need to touch /etc/fstab on funtoo install ??? ???

kernel panic on my rock solid LMDE(ruined of course)

    As always TIA !!!

    how to solve it ???

    asap

  4. Some googling tells me that's a Sandy Bridge CPU. I'm not completely certain, however, if intel64-sandybridge will work since the wiki page does say Core i3/5/7, although I can't think of any reason why it shouldn't.

Should you want to play it a little safer though, you could go with corei7.

    Absolutly right Sir !

  5. Maybe Funtoo is not too FUN to install !!!

    tar xpf stage3-intel64-sandybridge-funtoo-current-2015-05-29.tar.xz
tar: ./usr/local/lib: Cannot create symlink to ?lib64?: File exists
tar: ./usr/lib: Cannot create symlink to ?lib64?: File exists
tar: ./lib: Cannot create symlink to ?lib64?: File exists
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors

this time 'TRYING' to install with xfs...

  7. You might try to chroot into a 64bit system while you are in a 32bit system.

Or you try to chroot into an environment that does not have the correct instruction set. Are you sure you selected the correct arch/subarch stage3? If in doubt (and if you are on an intel or AMD 64bit machine), choose generic_64 arch.
