  1. Hello

    Not new in Funtoo but I forgot how to have my FR keymap in the terminal under Xorg (gnome).

    I'm in a fresh install with a new laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 13'').

    (OutOfTopic : The touchscreen, and the tablet-mode are OK out of the box with Gnome)

    The goal is to use "FR/Azerty" keymap

    Modified files but not give satisfaction

    /etc/conf.d/keymaps

    /etc/env.d/02locale

    /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/11-keymap.conf

    /etc/locale.gen

    /etc/portage/make.conf

    In the terminal, when reboot in text mode (rc-update del xdm), the keymap FR is OK

    When activating graphic mode in boot (rc-update add xdm default), login screen (lightdm) is in FR, and applications in graphic are in FR (eg. firefox, gedit).

    But when I open a terminal (gnome-terminal), keymap is in US/UK (qwerty), when I do setxkbmap fr, it's OK.

    The question is, how to make it permanent?

    02locale

    11-keymap.conf

    keymaps

    locale.gen

    make.conf

  2. Hi,

    When using funtoo, regularly doing update/upgrade,

    sometimes I have messages about modifying /etc/portage/package.use.

    At this time my package.use contain (too) many changes like this

    Quote

    # required by dev-lang/ruby-2.4.0::gentoo
    # required by dev-ruby/rdoc-5.0.0-r3::gentoo[ruby_targets_ruby24]
    # required by dev-lang/ruby-2.1.10::gentoo[rdoc]
    # required by dev-ruby/kpeg-1.1.0::gentoo[ruby_targets_ruby21]
    >=dev-ruby/test-unit-3.2.3 ruby_targets_ruby24

    # required by x11-libs/qwtpolar-1.1.1-r1::gentoo[qt4]
    # required by sci-geosciences/qgis-2.18.3-r1::gentoo
    >=x11-libs/qwt-6.1.3-r1 qt4 designer

    # required by app-office/libreoffice (argument)
    >=dev-libs/xmlsec-1.2.24-r1 nss

    The question is:

    How to know when it is the time to remove the lines (the forced change)?

  3. The link in ubuntu bugtracker can not help me

    Their solution is installing a new kernel (3.16), but my kernel is newer (3

    18)

    After reducing INPUT_DEVICES to "evdev synaptics"; I do

    eix-update

    emerge -ev @system

    emerge -aDNuv @world

    emerge -av xorg-x11 xterm xclock twm xinit

    In my /etc/portage/package.use I have

    x11-apps/xinit -minimal

    But the issue is not resolved

    Always no mouse

    I try to install openbox and fluxbox and report here when mouse can work

  4. For resize the partition, I download SystemRescueCD (4.4.1)

    After booting with it and do "startx" I have the graphical interface but the same issue too.

    The internal mouse of my notebook didn't work.

    When I plug a USB mouse, it work.

    I re-install my funtoo.

    I'm in the step

    emerge -aev @system.

    After this I do the kernel and grub install.

    After this I do the xorg/x11 install, and continue to report here.

    I think that the problem is

    "evdev: Mouse0: Configuring as keyboard"

    in Xorg.log

  5. I have a new laptop DELL Inspiron 353542.

    It rebbot with new kernel (gentoo-sources-3.18.1) in x86_64 bits mode

    It start install X, and it can launch but mouse not active,

    grep -i mouse /var/log/Xorg.0.log give

    When I plug an USB mouse cursor work.

  6. pdftk is needed by app-office/impressive.

    mcpdf can not really replace pdftk in this case.

    The error message tell "install a gcc with gcj" (4.6 in new slot), but it fail when I want to do this.

    My qyestion is how to install gcc-4.6.2-r1?

    After installing app-text/mcpdf I have

    # emerge -av impressive

    These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

    Calculating dependencies... done!
    [ebuild  NS    ] sys-devel/gcc-4.6.2-r1:4.6.2 [4.8.2-r3:4.8] USE="cxx gcj mudflap (multilib) nls nptl (-altivec) -awt -doc (-fixed-point) -fortran -graphite (-hardened) (-libssp) (-multislot) -nopie -nossp -objc -objc++ -objc-gc -openmp -regression-test -vanilla" 0 kB
    [ebuild  N    #] app-text/pdftk-2.02  0 kB

    For more information about Blocked Packages, please refer to the following
    section of the Gentoo Linux x86 Handbook (architecture is irrelevant):

    http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?full=1#blocked

    The following mask changes are necessary to proceed:
     (see "package.unmask" in the portage(5) man page for more details)
    # required by app-office/impressive-0.10.5
    # required by impressive (argument)
    # /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask/funtoo-cautionary:
    # Dantrell B. (10 Aug 2014)
    # Depends on sys-devel/gcc[gcj] which newer versions of gcc in Funtoo do not have
    #  Build against a version of gcc that does or use app-text/mcpdf instead
    # Ref FL-970, FL-1351 and FL-1424
    =app-text/pdftk-2.02

    NOTE: The --autounmask-keep-masks option will prevent emerge
          from creating package.unmask or ** keyword changes.

    Use --autounmask-write to write changes to config files (honoring
    CONFIG_PROTECT). Carefully examine the list of proposed changes,
    paying special attention to mask or keyword changes that may expose
    experimental or unstable packages.

  7. I want to install app-text/pdftk and app-office/impressive.

    They need a gcc compiled with gcj use-flag.

    This is an issue in the bug tracker

    https://bugs.funtoo.org/browse/FL-970

    My question is:

    how to install gcc-4.6.2-r1?

    I think that it is possible to install these ebuild.

    If not that they do in the portage tree?

    # emerge -av pdftk impressive

    These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

    Calculating dependencies... done!
    [ebuild  NS    ] sys-devel/gcc-4.6.2-r1:4.6 [4.8.2-r3:4.8] USE="cxx gcj mudflap (multilib) nls nptl (-altivec) -awt -doc (-fixed-point) -fortran -graphite (-hardened) (-libssp) (-multislot) -nopie -nossp -objc -objc++ -objc-gc -openmp -regression-test -vanilla" 0 kB
    [ebuild  N    #] app-text/pdftk-2.02  0 kB
    [ebuild  N     ] app-office/impressive-0.10.5  PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7" 0 kB

    Total: 3 packages (2 new, 1 in new slot), Size of downloads: 0 kB

    Would you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No]
