  1. To make a test and for give a little "feedback", I've recompiled all my Funtoo Stable with gcc-5.3.0-r1; 1867 ebuilds (with i7 4771 "Haswell" @3,5 GHz).

    I had troubles only with

    * media-video/lives
        Available versions:  (~)1.4.6 {libvisual matroska nls ogg theora}
        Homepage:            http://lives.sf.net

    But mistakes (I think) is not due to gcc :)

    @ coosee : excuse me ... i'm curious: what Xeon have You ? :) :) :)

  2. Ok .... Solved with "restarting from 0" the kernel .config file _'_

    I'm sorry I did not understand what he could create conflicts in my previous kernel .config (Sob ... ;'( )

    Anyway, now I miss to fix the fact that I did not recognize the "USB tethering" with smartphones _'_

    However Thx :)

    !!! The ebuild selected to satisfy "sci-libs/hdf5:=" has unmet requirements.

    Then with in package.use:

    sci-libs/hdf5 -mpi -threads

    digikam successfully compiled _'_

    So not using "threads" and "mpi", HDF5 can run only with a single thread i think .... _'_

    My question: is right that HDF5 can runs only with single thread instead multithread ?

    Just a curiosity _'_ :)

  6. Hello to all ....

    I'm on Funtoo "Stable" 64 bits (with xfce4 and kde / plasma-5)

    Trying to install digikam, I had to unmask the last version in Portage (media-gfx / digikam-5.3.0), Because with the 4.4.0-r1 I had problems with kde-frameworks / baloo).

    I made several attempts .... I finally managed to install digikam; But I had to change the local use flags for sci-libs / HDF5 disabling "mpi" and "threads".

    Rightly so ... or is there a way to use multithreading and multiprocessor support around sci-libs / HDF5?

    Excuse me (but I'm curious to understand:) ... and thx for info :)

  8. Hi to all

    shm                     /dev/shm        tmpfs           exec,rw,mode=1777      0 0

    I use this method and by default i've shm = 8 GiB (ram is 16 GiB).

    I compile all in ram without troubles; only for debian kernel I had necessity of more ram (however i'm a gentoo-sources user)... solved increasing the size of /dev/shm from 8 to 16 GiB.

    It is a good choice or there are better ways (for example about security or other things) ?

    Thanks for answers.

  9. k9-64x2 portage # git --reset hard
    Unknown option: --reset
    usage: git [--version] [--help] [-C <path>] [-c name=value]

               [--git-dir=<path>] [--work-tree=<path>] [--namespace=<name>]
               <command> [<args>]

    So i've tried to making

    # cd /usr/portage
    # git checkout funtoo.org

    Now it seems ok.

    However,  now:

    k9-64x2 portage # git reset
    k9-64x2 portage # git reset --hard
    HEAD ora si trova a db2c103 merged from funtoo-staging
    k9-64x2 portage #

    Is ok ?

  10. I to all;

    trying to update portage tree i obtain:

    k9-64x2 ~ # emerge --sync
    >>> Syncing repository 'gentoo' into '/usr/portage'...
    /usr/bin/git fetch origin --depth 1
    remote: Total 0 (delta 0), reused 0 (delta 0), pack-reused 0
    error: Entry 'profiles/use.local.desc' not uptodate. Cannot merge.
    fatal: Could not reset index file to revision 'origin/funtoo.org'.
    !!! git pull error in /usr/portage

    What can i do ?

    Thanks.
