After doing a series of tests on gentoo-funtoo and sabayon also helped by a friend user funtoo, Alessandro Ceriani,  we concluded that the problem occurs with the latest 4.16 kernels and the last 4.15. I solved using the last stable kernel gentoo4.9.95, on sabayon when I switched to the sabayon kernel 4.16 I had the usual problem while using the last lts 4.14 everything was ok. My friend of Saronno putting the vanilla 4.16 on the funtoo had the usual problem. Last note on funtoo if you are installing using the debian-source kernel as guide gnome has the usual problem so better to use gentoo-sources 4.9.95.

I was sure the scanner worked because with gentoo it worked properly. Eventually I found out that media-gfx / sane-backends was installed without using usb enabled by default .... very strange.
