  1. I have the sys-kernel/genkernel-3.4.40.20, sys-kernel/debian-sources-4.19.9, and sys-kernel/debian-sources-lts-4.9.130 installed. And using debian-sources-4.19.9

which driver are you using? 8169 in the kernel or 8168?

I am not sure which one it is using, when I looked into the kernel config it had everything as a module. I do not know the command on how to look that up.

    Thanks

  3. I have a new install of funtoo on my HP dv700 laptop and for some reason I am having troubles with funtoo not loading the correct drivers/modules for my network card. I have checked that I have the network card enabled in the kernel. So I am wondering if I have a conflict of modules on boot.
"ModeManages[3104]: <info> Couldn't check support for device '/sys/devices/pci10000:00:04.0/0000:01:00.0' : not supported by any plugin"
I would very much appreciate the help.

    Thank you.

  4. Hello,

I am back at it again.

I have not been able to get grub to boot for me.
I reinstalled grub and made sure that I changed my grub.cfg to show the "genkernel".

However, when I run "boot-update" I get these errors:

    # boot-update

    boot-update 1.8.2 /

[use option "-l" for license info, "-h" for help]

    * WARN: No boot/default match found - using first boot entry by default.
    * NOTE: Intel microcode will be loaded at boot-time.

I have installed "sys-apps/memtest86+" and I still get the errors.

I thank you for the help.

  6. Hello,

For some reason I can not use the uername or password from the forums for Funtoo on the bug reporting page. I keep getting an incorrect username or password message. I even tried to make another account, but now that I looked at it again, I misspelled the email address.

    Thanks

I thought you were having trouble downloading the source code (404 error, not found)

Yes, that is what it said.

So, something is going on with it.

It is strange that it will not install for me and it worked for you. It looks like it is the same version "dev-perl/LWP-Protocol-https-6.60.0::perl-kit".

I am going to try to log into the funtoo bug and report these two issues.

    I appreciate your help. :)

  8. @cafaia

    Thanks for the response.

I forgot about being able to mask the version and thank you for the link to the source  and the dir to where to put it. I am going to give this a go.

I can't seem to log into the bugs.funtoo it says to use my log in for the funtoo forums but it tells me the usr/paswd is wrong.

Masking the broken version worked a treat.

Okay, so I downloaded the LWP-Protocol-https- tar.gz and put it in the dir you said to. I did and "emerge -avuND @world" but it is still using the broken one. How do I get it to install from the "/var/cashe/portage/distfiles/"?

  9. @More_Piffle With the mkdir /mnt/funtoo, you are making a dir on the live disk so you can mount the directories that are on your root partition "/dev/sdb3." Then when you "mount /dev/sdb3 /mnt/funtoo" you will then have access to the files that you need to edit in "/etc/conf.d/xdm". Thus you are not making another dir on your installation /dev/sdb3. https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Chroot

  10. Hello to the forum and funtoo devs.

I just started using funtoo and am still learning how it all works. But I am having troubles updating my system because of two ebuilds and installing mypaint.

These two keep failing on the build (broken):

    dev-libs/appstream
    de-perl/LWP-Protocol-https

The LWP-Protocol-https gives a message 404 error, not found. I had pasted the error in the list, but for some reason it didn't stay.

and mypaint has this loop I can not get past:

    media-gfx/mypaint
    >>> media-gfx/mypaint-1.2.1:0/0::media-kit, ebuild scheduled for merge, wants dev-libs/protobuf[python]
    >>> dev-qt/qtwebengine-5.9.2:5/5.9::kde-kit, installed, wants dev-libs/protobuf:0/14=
    >>> dev-python/protobuf-python-3.4.1:0/14::python-kit, ebuild scheduled for merge, wants ~dev-libs/protobuf-3.4.1

    My candidates are:

    >>> dev-libs/protobuf-3.3.0:0/13::dev-kit, ebuild scheduled for merge has SLOT 0/13
    >>> dev-libs/protobuf-3.4.1:0/14::dev-kit, installed has SLOT 0/14

So I am still not sure if I need to do, change the versions or what not, so I can finish getting my system built.

    Thanks
