  1. During my upgrade from 1.3 to 1.4  I got an error while running the command:

    # emerge -auDN @world --jobs=3 --exclude dev-lang/perl

    So i got the error "Package 'dev-db/mysql-connector-c-8.0.16' NOT merged due to file collisions."

    The detected file is /usr/lib64/pkgconfig/mysqlclient.pc

    I checked with "portageq" who's the owner and looks like it's dev-db/mysql-5.7.23

    Not sure if it's an human mistake (me) or if it's a portage bug...

    I've followed every step and checked that it worked as intended.

    I've just done the this step now (succesfully):

    emerge -auDN @system --ignore-world

    Now, the next step would to to run

     emerge -auDN @world

    But this one, it fails spectacularly...

    These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

    NOTE: Use the '--verbose-conflicts' option to display parents omitted above

    It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to
    prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also
    possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are
    impossible to satisfy simultaneously. If such a conflict exists in
    the dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can
    not be installed simultaneously. You may want to try a larger value of
    the --backtrack option, such as --backtrack=30, in order to see if
    that will solve this conflict automatically.

    For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man
    page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

    so, now I'm unsure about how to proceed...

    I also noticed there's a lot of ebuilds that are actually a *downgrade* from the previous 1.2 release? Is that correct?

    cheers.

  3. I have installed two network cards on my system.

    One card is connected to a switch, while the second card is connected to a bridged modem.

    the configuration looks like this:

    eth0 -> switch -> DLS modem -> internet

    eth1 ->    bridge modem     -> internet

    eth0 gets its IP (local) by the DSL modem, which acts as DHCP server for the whole LAN.

    eth1 gets its IP (public, dynamic) from the ISP directly.

    this is how route -n looks like:

    The problem is that the connection on eth1 seems very unreliable.

    Sometimes it works, I can ping it from the internet, I can access apache hosts. Sometimes it simply doesn't respond, sometims inxi hangs at the IP part, sometimes it seems not working at all.

    From inside the machine, now I can't even use the interface.

    These are my make.conf vars:

    CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"
    CFLAGS="-march=native -O2 -pipe"
    CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
    MAKEOPTS="-j7"

    So far, I have this package masked while ziproxy 3.3.1 emerged normally and it's working without any issues. I wonder what changed in that "-r1" release that breaks my emerge.

  6. Hi guys.

    This is my situation now:

    btD5rTM.png

    I'll paste the text version to help track this page from Google:

    [ebuild N ] sys-fs/udev-171-r10 USE="gudev hwdb -extras -introspection -keymap (-selinux)"
    [ebuild     U  ] net-p2p/bitcoin-qt-0.9.3 [0.8.6] USE="ljr%* {-test%}" LINGUAS="-ach% -be_BY% -ca@valencia% -cmn% -es_DO% -es_MX% -es_UY% -gl% -id_ID% -ka% -kk_KZ% -ko_KR% -ky% -mn% -ms_MY% -pam% -sah% -sl_SI% -sq% -ur_PK% -uz@Cyrl% -vi% -vi_VN% -zh_HK%"
    [blocks B      ] sys-fs/udev ("sys-fs/udev" is blocking sys-fs/eudev-1.5.3-r2)

    !!! Multiple package instances within a single package slot have been pulled
    !!! into the dependency graph, resulting in a slot conflict:

    dev-libs/icu:0

      (dev-libs/icu-54.1-r1000::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
        (no parents that aren't satisfied by other packages in this slot)

      (dev-libs/icu-53.1-r1000::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
        dev-libs/icu:0/53=[abi_x86_64(-)] required by (dev-db/sqlite-3.8.6::gentoo, installed)
        >=dev-libs/icu-49:0/53= required by (dev-qt/qtcore-4.8.5-r2::gentoo, installed)
        (and 1 more with the same problems)

    So, I have sys-fs/eudev-1.5.3-r2 installed and also virtual/udev-208-r2 but not sys-fs/udev

    Are we moving to udev and I missed the memo?

  7. As per http://bugs.funtoo.org/browse/FL-986 Funtoo now updating udev (eudev). This update require manual intervention, here are the steps after tree update (emerge --sync)

    # emerge --sync

    # emerge --deselect udev

    # emerge virtual/udev

    # dispatch-conf or etc-update (be careful)

    # emerge @preserved-rebuild

    Is that right? I'm a bit confused here.

    mira ~ # emerge --version

    mira ~ # emerge --sync
