    # etc-update

    # emerge -avuDN --with-bdeps=y --newrepo @world

    These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

    Calculating dependencies /

    !!! Problem resolving dependencies for media-sound/audacious from @selected
    ... done!

    !!! The ebuild selected to satisfy "media-sound/audacious" has unmet requirements.
    - media-sound/audacious-3.7.1-r1::media-kit USE="chardet gtk nls qt5 -gtk3"

      The following REQUIRED_USE flag constraints are unsatisfied:
        exactly-one-of ( gtk gtk3 qt5 )

    (dependency required by "@selected" [set])
    (dependency required by "@world" [argument])

    I added required flags but not works.

    I want just recompile with -O3 to know if it will work better.

  2. I've added this

    # tail -n 8 /etc/portage/package.use
    #15-12-2017
    >=dev-libs/libpcre2-10.30 abi_x86_64 bzip2 jit pcre16 readline recursion-limit unicode zlib
    >=sys-devel/gcc-5.4.0 cxx fortran multilib nls openmp
    >=sys-libs/libomp-5.0.0 abi_x86_64
    >=sys-devel/clang-runtime-3.9.1 abi_x86_64 openmp
    >=sys-devel/clang-3.9.1-r100 abi_x86_64 python static-analyzer llvm_targets_AMDGPU llvm_targets_BPF llvm_targets_NVPTX llvm_targets_X86

    Also I deleted from make.conf `-gtk -gtk2 -gtk3 -qt3 -qt4 -qt5` and having this now

    # cat /etc/portage/make.conf
    MAKEOPTS="-j5"
    LINGUAS="en_US ru_RU"
    L10N="en-US ru-RU"

    CFLAGS="-march=native -O3 -pipe"
    CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"

    CPU_FLAGS_X86="mmx mmxext popcnt sse sse2 sse3 sse4_1 sse4_2 ssse3"

    VIDEO_CARDS="intel"

    USE="alsa bmp dbus
         djvu
         core-kit flv
         gif
         introspection
         jpeg mp3
         networkamagern
         png
         udev policykit
         rar tiff
         X zlib
         -gnome
         -kde -minimal
         -wicd"

    After `etc-update` I ran again but have the same lines about USE flags for those packages I've added.

    # emerge -uDU --with-bdeps=y gimp firefox --autounmask-write

    NOTE: Use the '--verbose-conflicts' option to display parents omitted above

    It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to
    prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also
    possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are
    impossible to satisfy simultaneously. If such a conflict exists in
    the dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can
    not be installed simultaneously. You may want to try a larger value of
    the --backtrack option, such as --backtrack=30, in order to see if
    that will solve this conflict automatically.

    For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man
    page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

    I am sorry. Let me know what I need to do around USE flags, masked packages and "Multiple package instances"?

    How to fix this situation exactly?

  3. I only want to rebuild gimp and firefox after `ego sync`.

    How to tell emerge apply all offered changes??

    # emerge -uDU --with-bdeps=y gimp firefox

    It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to
    prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also
    possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are
    impossible to satisfy simultaneously. If such a conflict exists in
    the dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can
    not be installed simultaneously. You may want to try a larger value of
    the --backtrack option, such as --backtrack=30, in order to see if
    that will solve this conflict automatically.

    I cannot understand line

    ' - media-plugins/audacious-plugins-3.7.1-r1::media-kit (masked by: package.mask) '

    cause:

    # cat /etc/portage/package.mask
    >xfce-extra/xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.7.1-r1

    I cannot understand line

    '[ebuild  N     ] sys-devel/clang-3.9.1-r100  USE="python static-analyzer -debug -multitarget" ABI_X86="(64) -32 (-x32)" LLVM_TARGETS="AMDGPU BPF NVPTX (X86) -AArch64 -ARM -Hexagon -MSP430 -Mips -PowerPC -Sparc -SystemZ -XCore" '

    cause I had never tryed LLVM_TARGETS.

    And there are much USE flags. So how to apply it automatically? --autounmask-write did not help.

  4. Hello! I had a trouble on my laptop Lenovo G50-30 when I used XFCE. Funtoo stopped suddenly without any key or mouse motion I could do. Just last picture and last cursor position shown.

    I changed de to LXDE and problem solved.

    But I recompiled system with CFLAGS: -O3 a week ago.

    I am seeing this problem again now just browsing the web.

    I cannot know what is the reason. I typed `emerge lxde-meta lxde-common xorg-x11` and got this https://pastebin.com/R2GmsBZ8

    Show me how to catch a bug?

  5. I connect via Networkmanager applet in LXDE. But when I disconnect and run by root

    wpa_supplicant -B -i wlan0 -c<(wpa_passphrase HOME passphrase) && dhcpcd wlan0

    it does not connect and Networkmanager cannot connect too. only reboot helps. So how to stop wpa_supplicant, dhcpcd or abort any lock?

  7. Hello! I have 2 questions.

    I cannot connect to wifi with wpa_supplicant.

    Next line worked on gentoo

    wpa_supplicant -B -i wlan0 -c<(wpa_passphrase HOME passphrase) && dhcpcd wlan0

    On Funtoo I have:

    # wpa_supplicant -B -i wlan0 -c<(wpa_passphrase HOME passphrase) && dhcpcd wlan0
    Successfully initialized wpa_supplicant
    wlan0: waiting for carier
    timed out
    dhcpcd exited

    I cannot understand why it does not connect? I need this when I will install funtoo again.

    The second question:

    I tried nmtui after wpa_supplicant not worked, but it also has not connected. But after reboot nmtui has connected. I want to clarify, please let me know.

    Once I typed dhcpcd and connection failed it will not connect never. This situation was on Gentoo: wpa_supplicant did not work if I had error in my line - the second run of wpa_supplicant absolutely not worked and only reboot helped. I think some process does not allow to use wpa_supplicant or dhcpcd the second time.

    Please, which processes do not allow to connect?

  8. Hello! I tried to recompile all my world with a new CFLAGS: -O3 in /etc/portage/make.conf file (I had -O2 before).

    I saw the errors while 3 days my laptop Lenovo compiled command `emerge -e world`.

    F.e. one package (mutagen) was not compiled due to error 404 not found. I typed `emerge --resume` but I think it did not compile that package.

    Another package compilation was failed due to Internet break. `emerge --resume` did not compiled that broken package.

    Another emerge stop was with laptop turn off (do not know why). The forth was qt-webkit compilation that was not compiled because of memory limit (could not allocate memory).

    Now my laptop boots in command line and shows:

    ERROR: Your XDM value is invalid.
    No xdm executable could be found on your system.
    Please set your display manager variable in /etc/conf.d/xdm,
    or install x11-apps/xdm package .

    I will do it. But I do no know what else I need to compile.

    So please say me where can I look which packages need to compile with xdm, qt-webkt??? Where is error log from last emerge?

    PS: sorry, my English is not enough.

  9. I use Funtoo for browsing the web. I compiled all my world with CFLAGS -O2. I changed it to -O3 to try how it will work. I typed world update

    # cat /etc/portage/make.conf
    MAKEOPTS="-j5"
    LINGUAS="en_US ru_RU"
    L10N="en-US ru-RU"

    CFLAGS="-march=native -O3 -pipe"
    CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"

    CPU_FLAGS_X86="mmx mmxext popcnt sse sse2 sse3 sse4_1 sse4_2 ssse3"

    VIDEO_CARDS="intel"

    USE="alsa bmp dbus
         djvu
         core-kit flv
         gif
         introspection
         jpeg mp3
         networkamagern
         png
         udev policykit
         rar tiff
         X zlib
         -gnome
         -gtk -gtk2 -gtk3
         -kde -minimal
         -qt3 -qt4 -qt5
         -wicd"

    # emerge -e world

    It started to compile 1038 packages and it had finished 600 of them when I reboot. Now I want it continues to compile the rest.

    How to do it?

    How to compile packages that were compiled with -O2 flag instead of current -O3 as file /etc/portage/make.conf is containing now?

  10. I want to use Funtoo everywhere. I want to get it quickly. Even if I have poor processor. I need quick compilation service to get source code compiled with my system configurations.

    F.e. I have one laptop with 1.8GHz, 4 cores and the second 800MHz, 2 cores. The second compiles too long.

    How can I compile Funtoo on my first laptop for the second? Or may I have another service to do that?

  11. Hello! Once I had updated world and got x11 packages was broken : http://forums.funtoo.org/topic/1224-xorg-modules-fail-while-update-world/

    I use Funtoo on two laptops: one I use everyday and can spell much time for experiments. Other needs to be workable without my attention.

    Is there emerge flags that will show me world update will go fine: all dependencies will be solved correctly ??

  12. Thanks to Gentoo Wiki page https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Knowledge_Base:Masking_a_package

    I added to /etc/portage/package.mask this line:

    >xfce-extra/xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.7.1-r1

    Run this:

    etc-update

    It updated without any errors. And then I checked:

    emerge xfce4-xkb-plugin

    and it started to download xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.7.1-r1 without any errors!

    Now I try to solve the question with flags size. Think it depends on xfce icons set. I have adwaita. Try to get and use other.

  13. Here I've found other versions https://github.com/funtoo/desktop-kit/tree/master/xfce-extra/xfce4-xkb-plugin

    This solved my problem:

    # emerge "=xfce-extra/xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.7.1-r1"

    But the trouble is that flags are tiny small: https://itmag.es/3AFuL

    Please, can I define in system to use xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.7.1-r1 while world update to be sure xfce4-xkb-plugin will not be broken due to unsatisfied dependencies?

  14. I have this:

    # emerge -s libxklavier

    [ Results for search key : libxklavier ]

  15. I really did not use package.use. I tried so but without any success:

    # echo '>=xfce-extra/xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.8.0 -libxklavier' >> /etc/portage/packacge.use
    # etc-update
    Scanning Configuration files...
    Exiting: Nothing left to do; exiting. :)
    # dispatch-conf

    emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy ">=x11-libs/libxklavier-5.4:=".
    (dependency required by "xfce-extra/xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.8.0::desktop-kit" [ebuild])
    (dependency required by "xfce4-xkb-plugin" [argument])

  16. I try to use Xfce as lightweight desktop. But I do not know how to add keyboard layout on Xfce panel. Next error appears when I install xkb-plugin also while world update. Think this is not big trouble, but help to the novice to solve it.

    # emerge xfce4-xkb-plugin

  17. Dear developers! I had this: boot with systemrescuecdm chroot into funtoo, installed slim,xfce4-meta, networkmanager, run commands

    rc-update add NetworkManager default
    rc-update add xdm default
    rc-update add dbus default
    rc

    but the `rc` command displayed errors that I "run it on system that was not boot, it may be chroot..." So I rebooted to my new funtoo and run rc. It say me error: 'netmount will start after networkmanager has started'.

    Think I catch the reason of my own problem:

    I boot into my new funtoo manually starting slim and dug this:

    So I had to add services in rc-update again and run `rc` again to have a success. I'll try to reboot when libreoffice and other apps will compiled. And think Slim goes automatically.

    But I still need your support with ModemManager Error. Cause I have this error in both my laptops.

    One remark: this overloaded with Java forum causes my mouse stops for 2-3 seconds. Such a problem was before when I browsed web-sites: system was stopped, screen froze and mouse did not move and only reboot helped.

  18. Hello! I try to install funtoo stage3 current standard in Lenovo G50-30 but first boot into my system displays the error:

    "ModemManager: Couldn't check support for device at '/sys/devices/pci:000...xxx...000' not supported by any plugin"

    and the system is waiting any key. I press any key and can see login in shell. I need to authorize and type slim despite my xdm configured to start slim desktop. Slim, Xfce start and work ok. Networkmanager can connect to wifi.

    I've read it is possible to switch of  bug report in kernel configuration, also may be I can compile kernel with device support??

    Please, help to the novice?

  19. You are right: I choose pure64 but after I tried to install LibreOffice, Gimp and other packages, I changed profile to 'desktop' following the advise from the Internet.

    Now I booted with systemrescuecd, created dir /mnt/fresh, downloaded intel-64 silvermont stage3 current, and extracted to /mnt/fresh.

    I cannot certainly understand what is "prepare bin packages". Should I chroot to /mnt/fresh, run `ego sync` to get meta-repo and then emerge listed packages? If so how then extract into my system? I've read http://www.funtoo.org/System_resurrection, the 'Tbz2 Extract Method' describes untar commands, but I do not know where to download gcc, glibc,binutils and search does not help me: http://www.funtoo.org/index.php?title=Special%3AMultiSearch&query=glibc

    Please, what to do?

  20. Hello! Funtoo installation instructions have to be edited. Here http://funtoo.org/Installit is the command that causes the error:

    "This is a handy feature, since when packages are being added to the world set, we can update our entire system by typing:..."

    I type but get the error:

    ego --sync
    Ego module --sync does not exist.

    Also language translations have such lines:

    http://www.funtoo.org/Install/ru

    ?? - ????? ??????? ????, ????????? ???? ??? ????? ?????? ????????? ? ?????? world, ??? ??????? ????? ???????? ???? ?????? ????????? ???????:

     (chroot) # emerge --sync (chroot) # ##i##emerge -auDN @world

    When I used this wiki I really had troubles and only English wiki solved the probem cause it has line `ego sync` in this place of installation guide.

    The same one in the spanish guide http://www.funtoo.org/Install/es

    "Esto clonar? autom?ticamente el ?rbol de portage desde GitHub:
    (chroot) # emerge --sync"

  22. I tried to install chromium and this is why I changed gcc version to 5.3.0. Today I tried to `emerge gcc` and got the errors.
