After recently installing Funtoo for the first time, I have several questions regarding Compiz standalone.
1. Why do the icons in the Compiz Config Settings Manager appear as white pieces of paper with a red x through them?
2. Why do I get this error when I try changing the keybindings for plugins through the CCSM:
Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/ccm/Settings.py", line 1058, in RunKeySelector modifierSelector = ModifierSelector (currentMods) File "/usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/ccm/Widgets.py", line 402, in __init__ self._base_surface = cairo.ImageSurface.create_from_png (modifier) cairo.Error: file not found
3. How do I change the background color of the plugin 'static application switcher' to something other than white.
Thanks in advance,
Hi Platanus occidentalis.
I run compiz standalone on two computers, one x86 and the other amd64. Neither exhibit the symptoms you describe. However I don't use the stock portage 0.8.x, I used Hedmo's ebuild for the 0.9.9 compiz. It is much faster, many rewritten plugins, never crashes, all unstable plugins either fixed or removed. I can compare because I originally used the portage version on the x86 machine. I highly recommend it, along with the updated Emerald 0.9.5. If you go this route you must put it in a local portage overlay and either change eselect python 2.7 every time you build either compiz or emerald or (better) modify Hedmo's ebuilds to automatically use python 2.7.
I don't personally use the static app switcher (maybe I should!), so I can't help you there.
Here's a link to info about Hedmo's ebuild: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-92 … rt-50.html
Sorry for the late post, haven't been on the forum lately.
