Greetings! I feel bad that my first post here is an issue, but unfortunately it is.
I had looked through the bug reports earlier and found one that was "resolved" with upgrading to grub2 from grub legacy. With the binfont useflag, and not pulling in unifont. There was created this morning an -r3 version that was supposed to fix the issue, but I still can't install it. I'm always left with "xz: /var/tmp/portage/portage/sys-boot/grub-2.00-r3/distdir/unifont-1.0.pf2.xz: No such file or directory"
I've tried a few things, including downloading the file itself, and putting it into the files directory. No help there. I tried putting it into that var/tmp directory, it disappears after I try to update again. I installed unifont manually, no help there. I even noticed that the file unifont.pf2 is in the /usr/share/grub/fonts directory. As a last resort I even uninstalled grub, and boot-update and tried emergeing boot-update again, which pulls grub2. Same error, and now I'm left without a boot loader. So unfortunately I'm stuck, and can't reboot without a fix to this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

WIll be fixed with next portage tree sync.
Thanks very much, I just tried syncing again but no new files. I'm assuming it's being worked on, and will try syncing later.
EDIT: Just synced, and everything works great now. Thanks!

What timing! Earlier today, I was have the same problem, just minutes before the corrected version was uploaded.
And yes, the newest ebuild built without trouble.
I also say thanks for the prompt fix.
I still can't install the latest grub2 ebuild because of conflicting files:
