Yes is possible, I know there are problems only with a btrfs /boot partition.
There is excellent documentation on the wiki:

# It is highly recommended to not use the root subvolume (i.e. volid=0) to install Funtoo. The reason is it is a bit more complicated to roll-back
# You can use BTRFS but keep in mind it is a WIP and you will loose some data sooner or later. If you intend to only use it for a system volume without any critical data on it, y es it is fine and you can do a snapshot before doing any update ![]()

If you use Grub2 in theory yes you could (GRUB2 seems to support LZO/ZLIB compression as per 1.99.6 according to my researches). I don't have that kind of setup personally so I didn't checked by myself.

What makes you say that?

Tagged as experimental in the kernel, plus the ton of patches circulating on the kernel mailing list not counting that BTRFS has been announced as "stable" yet.
