wpa_supplicant

Hello,

I had to mask "=net-wireless/wpa_supplicant-2.1" and downgrade to net-wireless/wpa_supplicant-2.0-r2 on my laptop to use the wifi connection

"/etc/init.d/wpa_supplicant start" failed with that message :

nl80211 : Driver does not support authentification/association or connect commands

I use the link netif.eth1 -> netif.tmpl in /etc/init.d and  the /etc/conf.d/netif.eth1 file :

template=dhcpcd

modules=("dhcpcd" "wpa_supplicant" "!iwconfig")
wpa_supplicant_eth1="-Dwext"
config_eth1=("dhcp")
dhcpcd_eth1="-h xxxx.xxxx.xxx -F both"

Here is my /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf :

ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
ctrl_interface_group=wheel
eapol_version=1
ap_scan=2
fast_reauth=1

# My home network
network={
  ssid="xxxxx"
  scan_ssid=1
  proto=WPA
  key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
  pairwise=TKIP
  group=TKIP
  psk="xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
  anonymous_identity="anonymous"
  priority=1
}

Re: wpa_supplicant

Why do you use dhcpcd with wireless ?

NetworkManager in conjunction with addwifi is easier and faster. Please look at this tutorial.
