Good to see.  I'll look forward to it appearing in portage.  I hope that as XFCE starts moving to GTK3 they'll avoid client side decorations or any of the other "mobile-like" features.   I don't need my desktop to look like a tablet.

What's the preferred replacement for xfce-mixer?

I was intrigued by the question: Substitute the xfce-mixer
It is only basic and native interface to GStreamer, ALSA and PulseAudio alternatively
Finally, what is your hardware and problem detected?

No problem right now.   I ask because the release notes for xfce 4.12 say that xfce4-mixer and xfce4-volumed will no longer be maintained because  gstreamer1.0 dropped the mixer-interface.    I currently use xfce4-mixer to control volume and mute or unmute devices.

Installed without issues today.  Nothing earthshaking but it's progress.  I like alt-tab cycling through the windows as a list.

Of course xfce4-mixer still works fine. I'm just wondering what "not maintained" means for the future.

Does anyone know how to enable the window previews in the alt-tab dialog?

Hi Duncan!

Disable the option: "Cycle through windows in a list"  ^_^

Hey Deklan. Thanks for the reply!

However, I have that option unchecked and only get a preview of the window's icon, not the window itself.  I am trying to get the third picture from this link [http://www.xfce.org/about/tour] and can only get the 1st and 2nd pictures (by checking and unchecking the "Cycle through windows in a list" option). Do I have to be using XFCE's compositor to do this, or can I get the previews using a compositor such as compton?

Thanks!

EDIT: I just found the answer. Apparently the preview mode only works with XFCE's native XRender compositor, not with compton.

I love the new Xfce. Xfce was already awesome, and I didn't think it could get even more awesome.  :)
