What would be the expected average compile times on this Linux box and would I need a larger PSU?

SPECS:

  • CPU: FX-8370 (8 core, 4.0GHz)
  • RAM: 16GB DDR3-1600
  • DRIVE 1: 500GB CRUCIAL SSD
  • DRIVE 2: 3TB 7200 RPM HDD
  • PSU: Antec 350W (The only PSUs available are made by Antec)

Applications I plan to compile: VBox, ClamAV, LibreOffice, Dolphin, Vivaldi, SpiderOak, GNOME

Almost impossible to answer, it's according to many parameters and the application. I compile libreoffice in around 15-18 minutes with -j16 on my i7 6900k @4.1 in tmpfs.

Use at least a 450 watt or greater power supply.

I use 450W for dual core X2-255 and E4500 with cheap graphics cards.
