new problem after kernel build

Now the new kernel works but when i try to boot with the old debian kernel 3.19 i have no x , i tried to install the nvidia driver but it still doesnt work. what can i do? and how can i add a meny entry for arch linux? i now have in the grub menu the old debian 3.19 kernel and the new kernel that i build.

if i run os-prober it detect arch linux but boot-update doesn t add it to the menu.

Thanks i run emerge @module-rebuild and now it works with the nvidia driver, do i have to do that everytime a build a new kernel?

You should post /var/log/Xorg.0.log, but, generally, did your run emerge @module-rebuild after building new kernel?

 

Regarding the booting of other OS you should probably make new thread and post your /etc/boot.conf

With nvidia you get the kernel it was built against and if you're very lucky similar kernels built from the same kernel version.
